It’s kind of funny, prepping before the gym

One thing I have noticed that I always do is prepare myself more before I go to the gym than I do for work or a formal event.  Not like mentally or emotionally, which probably would help me workout a lot better, but completely superficially.

I realized, before I go to the gym I spend roughly an hour fixing my skin, doing my hair, using products like MoroccanOil Oil Treatment to dry my hair faster and bring out the color while I am running or in class, I use more product and style the heck out of my hair and completely moisturize my face and put it together more carefully than when I go on a date.  The thing is that this is absolutely ridiculous to do considering I am about to workout, get sweaty and then shower right after I finish my workout while I am at the gym.

When I think about it it makes no sense why I go through so much trouble every time I workout, but when I really think about it I do it all to try to impress the guys.  This again makes no sense.  We are there to workout, sure there is a lot of flirting and people stare and give each other the eye, but the gym isn’t neccesarily a place to try to pick someone up.  When I really think about it, I should be focusing all of this energy on my workout and getting better at it but instead I am focusing on being the best looking and the most attractive.  It is pretty funny to see where people’s priorities actually lie when they are supposed to be doing something but then realize they aren’t actually doing it as best as they can.  Anyways, I am going to do my best to try and avoid doing all the prep work and beauty work on myself before I go to the gym and really see if I spend the extra time focusing on my workout if it will actually start to make a difference for me on the way that I work out and get myself into even better shape.
