Something that some people don’t really think about when they get depressed or have a friend that gets depressed is what is causing the depression and how you can help them. With the new year starting and everyone making resolutions, sometimes that has a really negative effect on some people because they really start to think about their lives and why they need to change, what caused them to get out of shape, to start smoking or even to develop a lifestyle they would have never thought they would have had to have lived.
Luckily with the new year, people start off by thinking about and planning to make changes in their lives and although some people pick up a new dress like a goal dress for loosing weight or puts pictures up in their house of bikinis and other things but in reality, those things seem like a great idea but don’t always work and in my opinion do not work for everyone or for long periods of time. The other thing is that if the person is depressed about their lifestyle choices and those pictures and bikinis on the wall and fridge may actually be motivational at first, but could also negatively effect you emotionally in the long run. I never recommend hanging your goal dress up and one thing I do think that can actually work and actually help make a difference to get your new years resolution is to help your friend or even yourself get off to a new start with making a huge new change. Now you cannot completely go and just get lipo or other things, but what you can do to kick start the diet without creating negative feelings or hanging goal clothing is to get a complete makeover.
I’m not talking about clothing or new furntiure, but something that changes you every time you see yourself like a brand new hair style, hair color and even some better and newer skin care products. This is also perfect for your friends who are depressed.
Every time they look in the mirror, instead of seeing the depressed over weight, bad lifestyle person they were used to seeing, they are going to see someone new with a better look and that can be different, can quit smoking and can loose the weight.
For me this is a much more rewarding and healthy way to kick start your new years so if you have a friend that needs to get started on a healthier lifestyle and you are worried they are depressed, why not try giving them a new look that looks better and a gift certificate to stores like Hair Care Discounters to help them keep their new look and maintain their new life. Although I am not a psychiatrist and cannot give medical advice, this is just my opinion on a better way to motivate someone to help them with their New Years Resolutions.
