Fall Colors for Nails – OPI Is Leading the Pack with Fall Colors

  • Posted on July 30, 2009 at 9:24 pm

I can’t believe that the fall is almost here and with fall comes a whole new season of fabulous nail colors.  We all had a ton of fun with bubble gum pinks and oranges this summer,,,,I know crazy colors this summer right?  It also seemed like it was the summer of the pink nails.  No matter where I turned I saw everyone choosing some sort of pink at least once or twice this summer, especially for special events or days where you wanted to feel great.  Although I love pink and think it made it’s mark for Summer, after these light pink colors and crazy summer dress colors comes a fall that leads me to believe we are going to all be feeling medium shades instead of dark, I could see autumn colors coming through and I definitely see people either going for shiney or matte colors.  It just seems to happen after a shiney pink and crazy color summer so I wanted to share with you some of the colors that I think will be absolutely fabulous for fall.  So here is our first list on hot Nail Polish colors for fall.

Fabulous Fall Nail Polish Colors:

OPI pretty and privileged

OPI pretty and privileged

This color is from the OPI 90210 nail polish collection and it screams to me for this fall season.  It is OPI Pretty and Privileged and it is a to die for fall color.

Look at how this color starts off thinking it is a red but then settles down with a nice earthy brown tone and I think that this nice earthy brown tone in this fall nail polish is what is drawing me to it for a match.  Think about the gorgeous reds you see fading to an autumn brown as the leaves are changing colors and then think of how fabulous your nails will look this fall with this fabulous fall nail color from OPI.

OPI Pretty and Privilged is a must have fall nail polish color on my list and I think anyone who doesn’t buy it seriously needs to rethink about how versatile this color is.  The tones in it match pale, light and dark skin, looks great with red and brunette hair, even some deeper shades of blond and a blue black hair for a stunning contrast as your partner looks at you on an autumn walk.  I love this shade and think everyone should have it, but hey, if its not for you then its not for you and lets move on to our next fall nail polish color.  But before we do, you can click here to order OPI Pretty and Privilged Nail Polish.

OPI And This Little Piggy

OPI And This Little Piggy

This next color is called And This Little Piggy and is also from OPI Nail Polish and it is the perfect pink nail polish for the fall season for those of you who just cannot let go of the summer season of pink.

Although this has a bit of shine to it, I consider this fall color more of a Matte color since it is more of one to look fabulous on your nails but still be a medium shade (darker on the pink) that encompases what many of us feel is fall.

This color makes my senses tingle and I start to smell that fresh air while walking through the forest and when I look at the shine on it, it smells like the end of summer and beginning of the fall coat season, and when you think of the clothes that are already out in olive colors and earth tones and casual wear with vintage labels and graphics,  OPI And This Little Piggy most definitely matches that perfectly which is why this pretty pink is perfect for fall.

I do like this color a lot and because this color can match many of the current color and jackets coming out for fall right now, this is perfect for you for your fall nail polish color collection.

You can Buy OPI And This Little Piggy Here from Haircare Discounters.

OPI Bagustte Me Not

OPI Bagustte Me Not

So this is one of my casual picks for fall.  It is a nice color that blends in and does not stand out like a sore thumb.  It is perfect for casual wear and eating out.  It is great for activities like carving pumpkins or decorating a cornocopia as it just simply blends into the gorgeous autumn food colors of brown, orange, yellow, green, red and darker pinks.

This color is also more on the matte side instead of shiney so it looks great along side wool, cashmere and other similar fabric coats and matches almost all colors from cream to beige to yellow to black and even some grays and some pinks…but not many.

OPI Baguette Me Not is a great color for everyone and since it is soo subtle it is perfect for almost all regions of the country.  I can easily see people wearing Baguette Me Not in California, Seattle, Washington DC, The Northeast and even in parts of the South and Florida.

This is a great fall color and if you need your nails to blend in more than stand out this fall, or for cooking, etc… so the focus is on the food, your outfit and jewelry, this is the color for you.  Lets face it, sometimes nails are needed to accent your clothing or cooking and OPI Baguette Me Not is the color to help you do this this fall.  You can order OPI Baguette Me Not Here.

Now that I have red tones covered, we’ll follow up with more later on this season and as fall approaches with some other colors that are sure to be a hit for the fall fashion season.  Don’t forget to check back here at the HaircareDiscounters.com Blog for more updates on what is going on with Fall Fashion Colors and Fall Nail Polish Colors.

Halloween Nails Part 2 – How to do Witches Nails for Adults and Kids

  • Posted on July 29, 2009 at 8:36 pm

So part two of the How to do Nails for Halloween, or Halloween Nails is all about one of my personal favorite Halloween Characters, the Witch.

There are thousands of types of witches out there for halloween from the Sexy Witch to the Gothic Witch and even classic movie withches like the Wicked Witch of the West or Elphaba, You have some characters that people know as witches like Elvira and even evil witches like the witches from Hocus Pocus or Cher in the Witches of Eastwick.  You have male witches or Wizards like Harry Potter and Merlin and all of these characters have unique nails and nail sets.

If you were going to do Harry Potter or any of their characters, both mail and female and are doing the kids, you may want to leave the nails plain or just use a simple clear coat of clear nail polish.  If you are doing the grown up characters, natural nails and nail designs will work for you since they play themselves off as humans in the real world.  Just remember to stay in Character and have your nails and hair done to match the character.  If you wanted to get creative with characters like Professor Snape, you could always try Black Nail Polish like the Black Onyx from OPI, but then again, that could be pushing it.  Just remember that Harry Potter nails have to look perfect since everyone looks at them when you are holding your want to cast a spell.

So anyways, the most important thing about creating your character and your nails and hair for the character for Halloween is to stay with the character.  Use long pointed nails for wicked witches, use long curved nails for sexy or temptress witches and for the gory grotesque, you may want to try huge curved and bent up or long nails and paint them green with colors like OPI Call My Cell-ery, A puss colored green like OPI Gargantuan Grape, or even a deep green nail polish like OPI Green Wich Village.

Now onto some classic styles that work well across the board for most witches nails for halloween on both adults and children.

Witch Nails style 1:

OPI Call My CellEry

OPI Call My CellEry

OPI Purple With A Purpose

OPI Purple With A Purpose

OPI Black Onyx Black Nail Polish

OPI Black Onyx Black Nail Polish

I like to take the classic french Manicure and give it a twist.  If you are a fun or regular witch or just a witch in general with no theme, Use the french manicure but take the base color below the tip and use a green like OPI’s Green Wich Village or a Purple like the OPI Purple with a Purpose Purple Nail Polish and cover the tip of the nail with the OPI Black Onyx Nail Polish.  All of these colors are available here at HaircareDiscounters.com as well.  You can also reverse the colors so that you have black nail polish as the base and the colors as the top of the french manicure.

Now, one thing that I also like to recommend when doing this style is that if you have a color like red or blue in your costume and it is prodominent, use the color from OPI that matches that color of your costume so that the manicure also matches your costume.  Normally in fashion you avoid doing this to go to an event (Not runway or show) but since it is Halloween nails we are going after, this is completely acceptable.

Halloween Witch Nails Style 2.

Style number two is for evil and sexy witch, because lets face it, even evil queens from Snow White and the Ladies from Hocus Pocus wanted to look good and sexy for their victims and their partners.  So for these nails I like to do solid colors that are rich and deep and depending on the costume, sometimes even a solid black.

For the shape of your nail for the sexy and evil witch, use longer extensions (but not too to long) and either round the top or file them into a point, but watch your eyes as you may poke yourself through the evening.  Use a deep rich and sexy color like OPI Black Cherry Chutney or OPI an Affair in Red Square or even  OPI My Private Jet.

Halloween Witch Style 3.

This is for the gross or gruesome or even just the witch that wants to stand out.  Use flashy odd colors like Green, Yellow, Cream or other solids that would normally look crazy with most nails.  Use long nails and if you want don’t be afriad to break them.  Breaking the nails actually adds to the effect and hey, if you have an old torn up witch, chances are her huge nails are also broken up and not perfectly done.

Halloween Witch Nails Style 4.

This is for the modern witch.  What I love to do with modern is a very simple and easy to do nail, however it is a bit more time consuming and can take you a good 20 minutes to complete.  First, take masking tape and cover half of each nail going long ways up and down or horizontal.  Then, take one solid stand out color or solid dark color and paint half the nail.  Then, when that dries, remove the tape and cover the other half of your nail that you just painted and do the other side.  It is simple and really looks cool when you are dancing or getting a drink and moving your hands fast.   Your nails will look like an exhibit from MOMA in NYC and people will be wondering where you got the idea from all night….don’t be afraid to send them here either ;-) .

Halloween Witch Nails Style 5.

This is just a fun idea to use and do.  If you are going to a party with black lights or has a cool lighting system.  Do some sort of asymetric modern design, or even a french manicure and use a glow in the dark or a solid white nail polish like OPI Funny Bunny on your nails so that when the lights go crazy, so do your nails and you can easily start to cast your spell on that Man across the room and bring him in.

Anyways, Halloween nails can be fun and easy and really help you make your wicth costume even more fabulous.  Don’t be afraid to get creative, but also don’t forget to stay in character and you’ll be bespelling your crowd in no time at all.

A little bit about Brocato:

This fabulous line of hair products was created by Master Stylist Sam Brocato from Louisiana. He noticed that not everyone can create the same look, style or shine that they got when they were in the Salon and Stylists chair. The consumers were also not always able to use the products the Salons would sell them to recreate these hairstyles or to continue to keep up with and repair their damaged hair. Because of the difficulty in some styles and because not everyone is a Stylist, Sam Brocato decided to take actions into his own hands and create a product line himself that would provide the user with a set of tools that would allow them to recreate, repair and keep their hair looking fabulous day after day and so on when they leave their salons. This product line has taken the USA by storm and thanks to Sam Brocato, women and men everywhere can now have Salon perfect hair day after day by using the Brocato Line of Hair Products.

Now onto our featured products and sale products of the week which you can find at Haircare Discounters.

MorrocanOil Oil Treatment:

MoroccanOil Oil Treatment on sale $29.95

MoroccanOil Oil Treatment on sale $29.95

Morrocan Oil is one of the hottest new products out there in the Hair Care and Salon world.  Although people have known about the benefits and how well Morrocan Oil works, you now have access to it and can buy MorrocanOil at Haircare Discounters.

MorrocanOil Oil Treatment is an amazingly ultra light formula that your hair just instantly absorbs.  This hair oil is used to help your hair have an amazingly shiny, silky and most importantly a natural looking finish. The best part about this Oil Treatment that helps to separate it from other oils is that MorrocanOil does not leave you with that nasty residue that we all hate.  It’s nice to know that someone has come up with a forumla that can give your hair a proper oil treatment and have no residue afterwards and we are even more excited that you can buy this and other MorrocanOil products at Haircare Discounters.

Now, before we move on to our new sale price, one thing that I read on the bottle that makes this hair oil treatment even more fabulous is that it is for all hair types!  How cool is that, a hair oil treatment for all hair types.  I love it!  Now you can see why this new brand is starting to take over the world Salon by Salon and site by site.

Today we marked this fabulous product’s price down so for today and an undefined amount of time into the future, you can find MorrocanOil 3.4 oz. bottle on sale for just $29.95 which is an amazing 23.2% savings off of Salon Prices by clicking here to buy Morrocan Oil.

Bumble and Bumble Alojoba Shampoo:

Bumble And Bumble Alojoba Shampoo 8Oz

Bumble And Bumble Alojoba Shampoo 8Oz

Bumble and Bumble is an amazing brand of hair products for shampoos, conditioners, styling products and more, and today we are happy to feature one of our favorite products from them, the Bumble and Bumble Alojoba Shampoo.

Now, although I don’t know for sure why this Shampoo is called Alojoba, I can take a good guess to it.  Two of the main ingredients in this low lather shampoo are Aloe and Jojoba Seed Oils.  Hrmm, seem a bit obvious now, I think so, Alojoba is a really cool way of putting two of the main ingredients of the Bumble and Bumble Alojoba Shampoo together to make it sound cool, exotic and really a fun product to use and say.  If you own it, you could be like, sorry I’m alojobaing my hair, can’t talk right now.  That is a sure fire way to keep unwanted callers off the phone and confused ;-) .

Back to the product now, Bumble and Bumble Alojoba is one of our best selling items and because we appreciate our customers coming back to us and shopping over and over again, we like to take down the prices to make it better for you all as well. So, in appreciation of our customers, we are proud to be able to offer you the fabulous and famous Bumble and Bumble Alojoba Shampoo 8oz. bottle today for just $19.89, that’s a 5.3% savings off of Salon Prices.

Click here to save on and buy Bumble and Bumble Alojoba Shampoo!

Aquage Defining Gel:

Aquage Defining Gel 6oz

Aquage Defining Gel 6oz

Aquage Defining Gel is a great Gel for anyone to have.  The blue color of the tube is perfect for your medicine cabinet or wherever you store your hair products at because it is light blue enough to be feminine but the blue color, the shape of the bottle and the lettering is masculine enough that it can also be a perfect hair gel for men to be able to buy, store and have out as well.

The Aquage Defining Gel is a great gel for people who like flexibility, but still enjoy the sleek and textured look that most gels create.

Although the Aquage Defining Gel is a flexible hold hair gel, it still provides you with the ability to be able to create defined hair strands which are very important in Men’s hairstyles and even in many shorter hairstyles for women. In my opinion, this is the perfect hair gel for pixie hair styles as well since it holds well, is flexible to shape and move without weighing you down and just works well on shorter hair with creating the defined hair strands that are important and featured in almost all pixie hair styles.

Haircare Discounters is also pleased to be able to provide this product you today for an unbelievable sale price of just $11.20 which is an amazing 19.9% savings off of Salon Prices.  Click here to buy the Aquage Defining Gel 6 oz. bottle.

OPI An Affair In Red Square:

OPI An Affair In Red Square

OPI An Affair In Red Square

OPI an Affair in Red Square is above and beyond one of my favorite red nail polish colors from OPI. It is a nice sexy and seductive shade of red that works great for evening and nighttime events and social gatherings. This red is also versatile enough that if you are a Business Woman and have to travel a lot for work or attend a conference, that you can wear it for a day and night color since the entire trip is based on business and should be formal or mostly formal anyways.

This color is one that I consider an attraction color (which means it can be used to attract people to you) because of its shade of red and the nice solid, sleek and sexy color.  I love it for evening wear with black gowns or to accent a Woman who wants to show power so this could also work with power colors like Silver (just don’t go overboard with these red colors and silver or you will look like a big shiney candycane lol).

OPI is one of our favorite products and if you decide to buy OPI An Affair in Red Square from us today, you will save 32.3% off of Salon Prices and only have to pay $5.75.  This is a great deal, 32%+ off on this hot OPI Nail Polish color.  Click here to buy OPI An Affair In Red Square!

So that’s it for Featured Product Fridays.  If you have a product you would like to see us feature or would like to recommend on Fridays, please feel free to contact us on our main site haircarediscounters.com.  Don’t forget to check back next week for more Fashion predictions, styling ideas and pretty much anything else in the world of Fashion and Beauty.

Are Bob Cuts the cuts of the Fall season?

  • Posted on July 23, 2009 at 11:39 pm

I’ve been searching around the web and reading a lot of fashion magazines lately and I keep noticing one thing this summer. More and more Bob haircuts are starting to show up in the photos with Actors, Actresses and Models and it is carrying over to American women of all ages.

I’m seeing women from their mid thirties to late forties wearing your traditional bob cut that lays flat and nice by your shoulders giving the classic bob look, as well as college and high school ages girls going from their short pixie styled hair cuts and morphing them into asymetrical bob hair cuts. We’re even seeing them come out in Movies like Speed Racer with Christina Ricci to Singers like Katie Perry and fashion Icons who have always sported them like Victoria Beckham.

Anyway you look at it, Bobs have been coming back big time since last year and this year you can barely turn around without another lady changing her hair style to some sort of bob, and who can blame them.  Bobs are fun, the move freely, if you have healthy hair, they shine (or you can use Sexy Hair Big Shine Spray to help it along), they can be cut asymmetrical and fun, or look classy and exotic. Bob haircuts can also be used to accent and frame your face.  You can tilt your hair and have one side highlighted while the other side has a gorgeous backdrop of your hair, you can pull one side behind your ear if your bob is a bit longer and you can even pull it forward and let the front ends curl up under or above your chin a bit to help frame that perfect face if you wear a shorter to mid sized bob.

Bob hair cuts are also a fantastic style because they are extremely easy to maintain.  Once you have it shaped and use the proper products a few days, you’ll start to notice that your hair will seem like it is starting to all of the sudden fall right back in to place.  Now that isn’t true for everyone, but if you wear it long enough and use the proper tools on it, your hair will seem like it naturally takes on the shape.  One thing though, make sure you choose the proper bob for your face.  I prefer to see shorter bobs on women with round faces, medium sized bobs on women who have more of the rectangle (bangs can sometimes look good with this too) and if you have the long ovular face, I recommend a longer bob for you.  This is just my opinion on what I think looks and works best, but hey we all have different thoughts on hair and the most important part about picking your style of bob and length is to do what makes you happy, makes you feel good and be proud to step outside and show your new hairstyle off to the world.

Now, some tools that I recommend to help create and either improve upon or maintain your bob include:

  • Babyliss Ceramic Hair Rollers and Setters – These help to form and shape your curls.
  • Big Sexy Hair Big Shine Spray – To add that gorgeous shine to your hair like you see in all the fashion magazines.
  • A Babyliss or CHI Hair Iron – To mold and shape or straighten parts of or all of your bob.
  • A spray or myst – To hold your hair in place so you don’t loose all the hard work you spent on making your Bob look perfect (I think my aunt used to use Moose on hers, but I have never needed to when I used to style a bob so try it if you want, but I never used Moose for this style).

And that’s pretty much it.

If you love Bob hair cuts as much as me and have been seeing them pop up all over the place, don’t miss the trend and be hip this fall when it looks like the Bob may seriously make another appearance….winter latest for women with darker hair ;-) .

A little light hearted Post for Wednesday, Our Favorite Hair Videos

  • Posted on July 22, 2009 at 5:45 pm

So I figured lets take it light and easy today and share some fun videos that are all about hair and/or nails for a change.

Now, the video I really wanted to share with you all is one that is never remembered but completely fabulously 1980’s from the Movie starring Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis, Jim Carry and most importantly the famous and fabulous miss Julie Brown.   Its called Brand New Girl and I cannot find it anywhere to save my life.  I checked Youtube, Giggle Sugar, Guba and everywhere and although it was the classic hairstyle and nail song from the 1980’s that is absoutely amazing, campy, trampy and fun, this movie had another song in it that was absolutely more memorable, just as fun and made it to 1980’s music top chart fame.

It is the song that helped stereotype Blond Hair (On a side note, we at HaircareDiscounters do not believe that stereotype or endorse it in anyways,,,,especially because some of us are blonds and love it!) for Americans and without any further ado, please enjoy Julie Brown singing, “Cause I’m a blond” from Earth Girls are Easy. Since I cannot embed the video into this blog for some reason, please click here to view the Cause I’m a blond Video with Julie Brown.

Anyways, have a light hearted Wednesday and if you go Blond by the Weekend, remember to come back and share if you had more fun than the rest of us.  (Also, don’t forget to treat your hair with color treatment products from TIGI (I used to use Dumb Blond by TIGI when I had blond hair) or any of our other fabulous product lines for damaged or color treated hair by clicking here.  We’ll have some more fun videos and songs for you again shortly.

How to do Perfect Nails and Hair for Halloween Part 1.

  • Posted on July 21, 2009 at 6:51 pm

So this is the first post in a series of posts on how to do your nails for Halloween. Now, some of you may be saying, why are you posting about Halloween when it is only late July? My answer is simple, all the stores are starting to prep for Halloween and people are starting to think about what costumes they would like to wear, so in this series of posts, I will walk you through how to do your nails and in some examples, hair to properly match any main stream costume and then take your costume, hair and nails to the next level. We’ll also do this using OPI Nail Polish colors and products that you can find at HaircareDiscounters.com.

The first two goulishy get ups we will start with are the Zombie and the Vampire or Vampiress.

To create Zombie nails is fun and easy.  We need to start with thinking what a zombie is and where they may be crawling out of the ground from.  For example, if your zombie is from a snowy area, there may be snow and dirt mixed into their nails and they could have some chips since they had to fight through frozen ground, while zombies in New Orleans may only have to stand up since the ground is wet and easy to get through.  Zombies are also flesh eaters or brain eaters (depending on which movie you watched) so you can also incorporate this into your nails and start to really get this costume going.

So anyways, onto the first set of hair and nails, snow zombie nails.

Zombie Nails

Frozen Zombies

Snow zombies are frozen so I like to use a lot of whites and blues.  Here are a few nail colors that I love for this.

OPI Alpine Snow White Nail Polish

OPI Alpine Snow White Nail Polish

OPI Give Me The Moon

OPI Give Me The Moon

OPI Sahara Saphire

OPI Sahara Saphire

Now these three colors are ideal for a Zombie who has been in frozen ground but decided to come back and make himself or herself known. They all have icey traits and almost look frozen when they are placed together.

Now, here are a few zombie nails you can do using these colors.

1.  Simple french manicures with silver on bottom and either other color on top. This is perfect for a high end recently dead zombie lady, and your nails still look fab.

2.  You can take either the silver polish or the blue polish and make a solid base coat of them.  Both of these are frozen colors so they work great for a frozen zombie.  Then, take the other two shades of nail polish and drizzle them over your nails in sloppy thin and slightly thick lines so that the nail polish does not lay flat, but is actually raised into runny drops.  This gives an effect that you are freshly awakened and ready to hunt for flesh.  Fun, I know.

3.  This is the most fun of the zombies, the fully dead, long since gone, ready to riot in a feeding frenzy zombie.  There are two options here.   1.  First use style number two above.  Then take a blood read nail polish (You’ll see my recommendations below in the vampire section) and paint the tops of your nails and parts of your finger tips with it so it looks like you have been already feasting.   I like nail polish for this since it will last all night.   The other option for this gore gauging ghoul is to first apply fake nail tips and chip the tops of them.  Then hang a little bit of fake flesh or even oatmeal and apply it with body glue from a costume shop.  Then paint it green or silver with red speckles so that it looks like little bits of flesh stuck to your nails and over design two, you are now a fresh zombie out of the ground who is on the hunt for food.  Gross…huh?  I know, but think of how fabulous your nails will look and match your costume.

Now for the non frozen zombies.

OPI Black Onyx

OPI Black Onyx

OPI Call My CellEry

OPI Call My CellEry

OPI Black Cherry Chutney

OPI Black Cherry Chutney

These are some of my favorite colors to work with for a classy event, and hey, they are even more my favorites when I get to dress them up for Halloween.

So basically, you can do any of the above with the focus on the OPI Call My Cellery green nail polish being the focus since it is a gory green for Halloween and can be great for Witches nails too.   Soo, here are some ideas.

1.  Simple French Manicures with no extensions or tips, unless you chip the nails ahead of time to make it look like they were rampaging.

2.  Use the Black Cherry Chutney nail polish color as a base coat.  Drizzle thin liquid lines of green and black over it and paint your cuticles and the sides of your skin with the black for effect so that it now looks like green gore pouring off of your nails and the black just makes your nails look dead.

3.  If you really want to take the last style to the next level, then add on extensions before hand and chip them.  Then just like the snow zombie, use a skin friendly glue to glue fake pieces of painted flesh to your nails and they will all of the sudden look like the nails of your character who is a flesh hungry hunter in the night.

Now, for Zombie hair, remember, these guys are long since dead and gone.  If you decide not to use a wig, then all you really need to do is mess up your hair and find a product that will hold.  I highly recommend using for men’s hair, any of the fibers or waxes from American Crew because they allow your the flexibility to put clumps of hair together in whatever size you want, and they’ll hold them in place all night long.  You could always use a hairspray like RUSK to hold it in place all night as well after if you would like.

For women, I recommend first brushing your hair out but keep it fluffy and bunchy towards the bottom.  Then take leaves, white styrofoam crumbles or what not and mix them into your hair.  Then put in a spray of Sebastian Hair Sprays to hold them in place.  Then begin messing up your hair a bit and put random thick strands of hair leaning up every which way and cross them over eachother so your hair is a mess.  If you want to take it to the next level, you can even add in fake spiders and bugs to the mix, then when all of it is all messed up again, use another heavy coat of Sebastian Spray and you should be set to go for the night.  (On a side note, if you want thicker wet looking clumps in your hair, wet your hair down then use any get in the wet hair to hold it together, then begin adding in extras and shaping the hair once it is dry.  This extra step done before hand really adds to the look, but does take extra time.)

Now time for the Vampires and Vampiresses.

This could be sexy or seductive so instead of breaking it out like we did for zombies above, I’m going to do men’s and womens.

OPI Got the Blues for Red

OPI Got the Blues for Red

Men’s vampire nails.

1.  Male vampires are sexy and seductive, until they feed.  So, for the sexy seductive one, all you need to do is shape your nails and clean them, then use a clear nail polish on the top of them to just have a clean and clear look that is sophisticated and sexy.

2. Now, if you want to go into the scarrier type, put on nail extensions and file them into points at the top, then use the clear coat over them.  If you want something extra on it, use the OPI Black Onyx nail polish we recommended above.

3.  If you want to have scary nails for a vampire that is ready to feed, take the black nails from above and take the OPI Got the Blues for Red color for blood on them.  You have two options for them, for the scary vampire attack, take the brush and flick it at your nails so you get blood spackles on them.  For the sexy seductive blood feeding, take a small drop of the red nail polish and put it at the top of the nail and let it run down your nails so that it looks like blood poured down your nail.  Now, since this color stays liquid looking when done right, leave it run down naturally and let it run down your fingers if it does, you were just feeding on someones neck and hey, the blood would pour and get your fingers messy so why not let it stay and really help the effect. The last step then is to take your clear nail polish when the blood dried and paint over the red blood so that it becomes shiney and still looks fresh.  Those are some scary nails for a vampire to wear!

Women’s vampire nails.

Now, for the womens vampire nails, you can do this easily.

1.  If you want to be sexy and seductive, just get extensions put on and make sure they are rounded to a point on the top.  Then just select a very dark red or purple polish and paint it on. The one thing to make sure you do is to only buy extensions that go straight out and do not curve down.  Now, also remember to get out of the stereotypical Black Nail Polish for women’s vampires, Female vampires are sexy, not goth so leave the black to the goths and get your nails seductive with a color like the Black Cherry Chutney or Go the Blue for Red colors.  They are sexy and seductive and won’t make you look fake.  You want real sexy and real seductive.

2.  For a scary vampiress that has just fed, I would recommend doing the same nails that I recommended for men in number 3.  Use these to not only show you have fed, but are also the queen vamp on the block so that the other vampiresses should back off your prey.

For Vampire hair for Men and Women.

Men, please get over the slicking and greasing your hair back.  Wear it straight or forward and use a gel and spray to hold it in place.  Then use a product like Sexy Hair Big Shine Spray to add that sexy wet and shiney look to your do.

If you have long hair, comb it or brush it out so that it falls nicely along side your face, or pull it back into a pony tail and use the big shine spray on it as well to add in a shine that shows that even though you may be dead, your hair is still sexy and alive.

For Women, I always love the full of life vampire hair instead of dead beat up wigs.  If you have long hair, straighten it out completely using an iron from Babyliss or CHI and get it straight and lovely.  This looks great for all hair colors.    Then use Sexy Hair’s Bg Sexy Shine Spray which you can find in the above link in the Men’s post.

The other style that is fabulous if you have long hair works amazing for blonds.  Get yourself thick rich huge wavy curls and let them hang everywhere.

If you want to really spice up your hairstyles and have long hair, you can add in some fake blood and let it pour down your hair, but make sure it dries before you leave your bathroom, otherwise you will get a mess everywhere you walk and on everything your hair touches.

Now, if you are a Women and have short hair, I love short Women’s vampire hair when you paste it or glue it to your head so it is held neat and tight against your head.  Vintage looks also work great.  You can also take your bangs or hair on the top of your head, flatten a panel of hair and then use product to make shapes and spikes out of it for that sexy and sort of in your face look.

Anyways, not to get to carried away since there are a ton more styles of nails and hair for Halloween characters and costumes, especially since I have another set of characters and costumes to do, I’ll leave this post as is and hope you all found it useful in bringing your halloween costume and character to life.

How to do a Mens Hairstyle that is professional & executive looking

How to do a Mens Hairstyle that is professional & executive looking

So ladies and gentlemen, something most moms and girlfriends wonder about their sons or boyfriends, even husbands sometimes is “Does the man in my life dress appropriate and is his hair professional looking enough to be looked at repectfully at work?”  Sure we may not want to admit it out loud and some of us may just let it go, but if you were ever in my family, you would hear it on a daily basis, “Hunny, your hair looks a mess, fix it up nice and neat so that people will take you serious!”

My mom would say that to my dad, she would say it to my friends and really just about anyone who didn’t have a hairstyle that she would think was proper and professional enough for the workplace, so I figured why not share a hairstyle that is still hip and trendy, sexy enough to wear out after work to a happy hour and is easy enough to do that you can have your hair done within 2 minutes!  Because we know, most guys usually don’t want to take to long (or at least admit to having to spend to much time) on their hair and appearance.

So this post is designed to help you help all the men in your life have a hairstyle that is professional enough to stand in front of an executive team with, fun and youthfull enough to go to a happy hour or party in and still classy enough to feel good about yourself in.  It is perfect for men from the age of 20 to 60.

Now this hairstyle does require a few things:

1. Short hair.  Anything hanging below your ears is a bit to long.

2. Product – I use a lasting hairspray that will get through the day and start to break in the evening.  (You can always redo this if you want it to stay the same at night, remember it only takes two minutes to do and can be done anywhere!)

3.  Two minutes from your day in the morning after you get dressed.

Anyways, here is how to do this mens professional hairstyle in two minutes time and the products I use.

1.  Start by washing your hair:

curly sexy hair shampoo

curly sexy hair shampoo

I wash mine every day but if you do every other day or every two days, this style will still work well for you, if not easier.  You just won’t have as many defined lines in your bangs or on your head, instead you will have thicker strands.

I used Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner for this hairstyle this morning, mainly because I like the thickness of the product and how it leaves my hair when I finish styling it.  Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Curly Sexy Hair Conditioner seem to help me add extra volume to my hair, which I love because it becomes soo much easier to style Mens Professional Hairstyles with and because it is easier for me to shape since I do not use any tool or appliances like brushes or combs or dryers on this hairstyle.

Since many peoples hair does have some natural curl in it anyways, with the volume that this shampoo and conditioner set adds to your hair, and it’s ability to emphasize the curls and help to enrich them, I am almost tempted to say that it also helps with the end step of curling the bangs instead of having front forward spikes which is more of a teenage and punk type of do.

How to have hair that holds up to Humidity.

  • Posted on July 15, 2009 at 11:42 pm

So the one question many women who suffer from frizzy hair have in their minds when traveling to somewhere that the humidity is absolutely horrible is, “What can I do to combat the frizz and hold my hair the way it should be held?”.   This question is a common one and a concern, especially when traveling, so we would like to help you solve this problem so that the next time you are off to the beach, tanning or relaxing by the lake, Living it up in the French Quarter of New Orleans or just having fun with family and friends, you will be able to focus on enjoying yourself and not wondering what is happening with your hair.

The first thing to think about is how you style your hair.  What types of products are you using and are they effective enough to last all day long?  You also have to remember that when you travel, space is limited so your hair products and appliances have to be compact enough to fit in your suitcase or bags and still be enough to get you through the day and night.  This is where we come in to help you not only keep your do looking fabulous, but also help to keep you with enough space in your suitcase so that you can fit your gear and still have some room for souveniers.

So anyways, on to the purpose of this entry:

How to have hair that holds up to Humidity.

The first thing we recommend for people with frizzy and troubled is to pick the proper appliances and products that you will need to not only fit in your suitcase, but to be able to style your hair quick and keep the look all day.  Here are our product recommendations for keeping the frizz out of your hair and all the fun with your family and friends, not fudging with folical fix-ups.

1.  A hair appliance that is not only compact, but effective and versatile.

Two products that we love are the:

CHI Nano Ceramic Hairstyling Iron 1

CHI Nano Ceramic Hairstyling Iron 1"

Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Concave/Convex Hair Iron

Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Concave/Convex Hair Iron

These two irons are absolutely perfect for a person who suffers from frizzy hair when they hit an area that has humidity.  These are quick heating irons that easily straighten your hair or if you use them for styling, can leave you with the curls you are looking for.  Both the light blue 1″ CHI Nano Ceramic hair iron and the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Concave/Convex Irons are versatile enough to straighten hair, style hair for curls, waves or even form your hair into bobs and because of the technology behind them and materials used in them to treat your hair, they heat in an instant and help to keep and hold your hair in place longer and help to prevent frizzing or styles coming undone from humidity.  The CHI Nano Hair Iron and Babyliss Pro Nano Hair Iron are also both compact enough that they should easily be able to fit in your suitcase so that you can take them with you on your trip and not have to worry about an extra bag or schleping them on the plane as a carry on item.

2.  Hairsetters and Rollers.

So now that we have appliances ready for you to use to create a long lasting do that will start fighting frizzy hair because of humidity, it is time for a complimentary product to the Irons so that you can set your hair properly.  This is where Babyliss comes back into play.

Babyliss BABCHV14 - Pro Ceramic 12 Roller Hairsetter

Babyliss BABCHV14 - Pro Ceramic 12 Roller Hairsetter

Babyliss has one of the most popular hair setters on the market. They are the Babyliss Pro Ceramic Roller Hairsetters and boy do they do the job.  They use a special technology combined with the materials used on the actual rollers to not only heat at an instant, but help style and set your hair without causing the damage that inferior rollers and setters cause.  By starting your do with these ceramic rollers from Babyliss and then using the irons for shaping and curl reduction, you are on your way to a full fledged fabulous hairdo that can start to stand up to humidity and protect you from frizzy hair.

Now, the Babyliss Ceramc Hair Roller or Hairsetter kit is a bit bulky which is why I recommended it after the irons which could create the same curls (just take a bit longer), but if you have the room in your suitcase, pack these bad boys up and you’ll be on your way to a frizz free day of fun in no time.

3.  Now the final touch, a product that allows for movement and bounce, but also keeps your hair under control and not looking greasy or clumpy.

Sebastian Pro Shaper Plus Hair Spray

Sebastian Pro Shaper Plus Hair Spray

This is one of the secret weapons I recommend to ladies, and gentlemen, who have frizz issues when it comes to heat and humidity.  It is a life saving spray that you absolutely cannot live without.  It is the famous Sebastian Pro Shaper Plus Hairspray and it is defined for this exact type of issue.  How do you control frizzy hair in humidity or in general.

The Sebastian brand of hair products saw this issue and came up with this magnificant forumla to help in this situation.  They invented a hairspray that was made to stand up to heavy humidity and keep your hair in place.  As with many of the other Hairsprays by Sebastian, Sebastian Pro Shaper Plus Hairspray is properly named shaper plus because it actually does hold the shape of your hair without letting it get effected or frizz as it was developed to withstand heavily humid climates and places.  The thing I love most about it is that it also looks and feels just like the other Sebastian lines of sprays where your hair looks natural, it moves, flows, and then falls back into place without getting frizzed and out of shape.  The Sebastian Pro Shaper Plus Hairspray is really the key component to preventing frizzy hair caused by humidity, however you do need to do the proper prep work before hand since one simple spray cannot do everything on it’s own.  It just maintains and holds its place to make sure your hard work prepping and styling your hair does not go wasted.

In short, if you want a potential solution for keeping your style stylish and not getting frizzy or falling from humidity, you need to:

  1. Set your hair with rollers or setters (space permitting if you are traveling)
  2. Use the proper appliances to style your hair like the CHI or Babyliss Hair Irons
  3. Use my secret weapon, the Sebsatian Pro Shaper Plus Hairspray to hold your do in place all day and night long.

We hope you found this helpful in your fight against friz and if you need or would like any of the products mentioned, please feel free to visit our store by click this link to go to Haircare Discounters.
