TIGI Coupon Codes – TIGI Coupons Sale

  • Posted on October 29, 2009 at 7:28 pm

Ok, we have another huge announcement for all of your today.  Even though we already have seriously low prices on TIGI making it a non stop TIGI sale, we can now actually offer you a TIGI Coupon Code (TIGI5off) that will not only help make our TIGI sale even better for you, but let you save another 5% off our already low marked down prices on TIGI products.

TIGI Coupon TIGI5off will save you an additional 5% on all TIGI products on the Hair Care Discounters website and the coupon code is good through 11/30/09.  This is a huge opportunity and with summer over and hair needing to be repaired, this is the perfect time to buy TIGI Bed Head Chocolate Treatment, Dymb Blonde, Catwalk and all of the other fabulous products from TIGI and TIGI Bed Head.

TIGI is one of the most popular product lines out on the market and is used by tons of people everywhere with all different types of hair, hair problems, color treated hair, etc…  They basically create a product line for every type of hair and every person out there.  I love TIGI and actually used to only use them when I was in college and just starting out since TIGI is not only an affordable Salon Quality product line, but it also was perfect and recommended by my stylist for my hair because it was bleached.  I love the dumb blonde hair product line, especially the styling glue and the shampoo and conditioner, and although I miss using the products becaue they really helped to repair the damage done to my hair from bleaching it and helped to make it feel and look healthier.  However, when I stopped bleaching my hair, I had to change products since I no longer needed products for Blond or Bleached hair since I went back to my natural color.  It was hard to give them up and took me a while to find products I loved just as much, but when you make a change to your hair, you have to also change the products so that they work with your current hair and not your old hair.

Anyways, TIGI is a great line of products and very affordable and even though we already have the TIGI line of products on sale, we are now offering a TIGI Bed Head Coupon Code TIGI5off good through 11/30/09 to save you an extra 5% on your entire order of TIGI products.  This coupon is not able to be mixed with other coupons.

Getting the Volume Back in Your Hair is Easy

  • Posted on September 9, 2009 at 8:41 pm

Has your hair started to go limp.  Is it hard to manage and basically deflated.  Are you tired of a bob that lays flat or curls that fall out and just dangle?  Well chances are your hair just needs to be recharged and revitalized with some serious volume.

The first thing you should think about and ask yourself is:

  • What have I done differently to my hair that could have caused it to go flat?
  • What did I do that could have damaged my hair?
  • When was the last time I used a hair treatment or Hair Mask?
  • Did I change products and try something new?
  • What did I do differently recently or what Chemicals or Changes in Temperature could have effected your hair and made it go flat?
  • How often do I style my hair?

By figuring out which of these or which combination of these things you have done or which ones can be effecting your hair and its volume, you can then start to work on which products you need to start using or what you can begin doing differently to help regain control of your hair and give it that full look and feeling that is not only easy to manage and style, but looks healthy and feels amazing.

So the first thing I would look at is when is the last time you treated your hair to a day at the spa…well not really a day at the spa for your hair, but a Hair Mask or Hair Repair Masque to recharge and give your hair back its life and luster and volume.

If your hair has deflated and you color it, style it, damaged it or it is just flat and boring, there is an amazing hair masque that I highly recommend you start trying from Pureology.  It is the Pureology Thickening Hair Masque.

Pureology Thickening Hair Masque

Pureology Thickening Hair Masque

The Pureology Thickening Masque is an amazing Masque that many women and salons have known about for years.  It is technically designed for people who have colored their hair, but because it is for thickening, I like to recommend it for just about anyone and everyone with dull lifeless and fine thin hair that needs to be thickened for volume and depth so you can more easily style it.

This hair masque not only helps to repair and reverse some of the damage done from coloring your hair, but it also helps to protect your color and add in volume and thickness to your hair.

The Pureology Thickening Masque evens out porosity and helps strengthen your hair as well so that you will not only be able to start to get hair that feels and looks healthier and fuller, but it will help to protect your hair color and give your hair more protection from other damage and harmful chemicals.

Now, suppose it isn’t a lack of treatments or the right treatment for your hair, or you haven’t colored your hair out of volume, what else could have been causing the deflation from fun and full hair with life and volume to flat and boring hair that lays on your head and doesn’t hold any style?  Maybe it is the Shampoos and Conditioners you are using.

There are soo many volume shampoos and conditioners available today and they are soo hard to choose from.  They all do different things and many have different ingredients.  The on thing that volume Shampoos and Conditioners do have in common is the same goal.  To get your hair back up with a ton of volume, body and fullness and so instead of listing a couple hundred shampoos and conditioners (ok that was a bit of an exaggeration) I am going to mention a few brands that are designed for this and then you can pick the one that stands out the most for you and which one you think may work best for your hair.  All of the Volume Shampoo and Conditioners do the same thing, so pick the one that you feel will be best for you and fit your price range, however, remember that I still stand by not all shampoos and conditioners are created equal, ones like Alterna The Science of Ten and Kerastase (Which are available on our site as well) are amazing and have some of the best ingredients in the world and in my opinion are more than worth the extra money and work a lot better on your hair, however pick one that is for Volume and in your price range and begin using it as instructed on the bottle.  Not as you want to because overuse can actually do even more damage.   If you want to try one of the Volume Shampoos or Conditioners that I recommend, click on the pictures to the left and you’ll be taken to the product page, then go and buy the complimentary Shampoo or Conditioner to it as well.

Soo suppose this is still not what is causing the deflation or boring dull hair.  What else can you do to help stop your hair from deflating and get back that volume and hold.  The one thing that I see over and over again, and I used to do is that people are using the wrong styling products to get their hair to hold up to humidity and hold their volume and curls or stop their hair from deflating. The most common product I see being used which is also one that won’t be able to do what you want is hairspray.

Although hairspray is amazing and will start holding you at the beginning of your day, it is not made for holding your curls for styling or your hair high by itself.  It is however perfect for keeping your style in place and locking it into place so that your hair can hold its shape all day, so although I don’t recommend it for being the base of your hair style, it is still important to use a hairspray to hold your hair style in place and help keep it from deflating.

This is where the other products out there come back from the store.  Most people skip over them or have seen their parents use them and never want to give them a try, however, this could be why your hair style does not hold and why your volume does not last all day and why your curls fall out.  Products like, Mousse, Volume Leave in Conditioners and Styling Conditioners and Volume Sprays get passed over when people as people shop and it is an absolute mistake because these are the products that are designed for big hair, curly hair and hair that wants volume and to stay inflated all day.  Hairspray can help to keep it in place and keep your hair style in shape, but these products are the ones that help create the style and hold it for as long as you want it big and beautiful.

Here are some of my favorite volumizing styling products that are great for big hair, curly hair, wavy hair, bob cuts, hair with volume and styles that need to be full and fun.

There are a ton of products out there to help you not only repair your hair and repair your hair’s volume, but there are also products out there that will help you style your hair and hold the volume and body that you want.  The most important thing to remember is to find one that works with your hair and to make sure that you treat your hair correctly because if your hair is happy and healthy and treated with care, your hair will also be able to be styled, have volume and life and you will begin to love it again.

Forget those infomercial products that are incomfortable, you can have hair that is full of volume and life naturally without having to wear or use products that hurt your head and look like crud.  Try using a volumizing mask, the proper shampoos and conditioners to help keep your hair healthy and full of volume and the right styling tools and products that are designed for volume and control and keeping your hair big happy and healthy.

Remembering when I was a Platinum Blond and How I kept my hair healthy.

  • Posted on August 24, 2009 at 7:25 pm

I recently moved and although I hate moving, as I am sure you all have had the same stress that comes along with it, one thing I do love is finding photos and photo albums that you packed away or somehow got lost in a closet and reliving old memories.

One of the photo albums I found had pictures of me in College when I used to have platinum blond hair.  It would take easily an hour with some very strong hair bleach on my head to get my hair that gorgeous shade of white/blond, but I also remember how horrible it itched and how it felt like it was burning my scalp.  Little did I know that you could bleach without hitting your scalp which I eventually started to do (I could have seriously used that info when I first started lol) but luckily my stylist did set me up with some products that actually helped me to not feel so much irritation after we would finish with my hair and help me to almost instantly have healthy and silky feeling and looking hair again within a day or two.

Without the knowledge and products that my stylist gave me, I probably would have lost my hair or had so much breakage that I would have needed to cut it off or shorten it, but since I had a great person to get advice from, I was able to prepare ahead of time for future bleachings when I started using him and treat my hair afterwards so that it not only looked gorgeous, but I could also keep my blond hair lookin natural, shiny and healthy.

What we basically talked about when I walked into his salon was how much I had damaged my scalp and how fried my hair was from the harmful chemicals in hair bleach.  We then went over to the products counter and he started to talk to me about the importance of using proper products that are rich in vitamins and nutrients and since I was in college, he also introduced me to two lines of hair products that are not only perfect for treating bleach damaged hair, but also hip and trendy looking and could create the hair styles that I had wanted.  (BTW this is Adam posting for your normal Haircare Heather since she is on break today). The products that he showed me were TIGI Dumb Blond and the Joico Styling Line so I could have spikey hair as well.  (It was college afterall).

Joico ICE Hair Spiker Water Resistant Style Glue 2.5Oz

Joico ICE Hair Spiker Water Resistant Style Glue 2.5Oz

The Bed Head Dumb Blond shampoo was awesome.  Unlike the other shampoos that I had been using before, this one did not agitate my scalp or hurt when I would put it on.  It would also actually feel relaxing in my hair when I would let it sit and when I would wash it out, my hair felt amazing.  It even looked like it was repaired after the first use.  I loved this product and was grateful when my stylist showed it to me, but then when he introduced me to the Joico Ice products for styling, he really won me and my damaged hair over.

Spiker Ice from Joico was amazing and it also fit my budget since I was a college student.  The glue inside the tube of Spiker Ice was easy to work with on my hair and gave me instant hold which I loved.  I also used the white glue and it never once damaged the color or stained my hair either.   ICE would also dry very fast and the best part is my hands would be pretty much spotless after I was finished styling my hair.

The lack of clean up and with all of the vitamins in these products made them idea for my lifestyle of needing affordable and good for bleached hair products that also fit into a college students budget.

Without the help of my Stylist teaching me how to properly treat my hair before and after bleaching, I probably would have lost all my hair from it breaking and wouldn’t have known what to do, so thank you again Dominic for showing me how to properly treat bleached hair and get it back to health.

How to create alternative hairstyles and be able to wash your hair.

So when I was looking through our product lines and thinking about something fun to write today, I realized that it is almost back to school time and for high school and college students that means new trends, new cliques and possibly finding new hobbies.

With those new groups of friends and new ideas thoughts or beliefs that come with them, a lot of times you find yourself buying new clothes to match your friends and their cliques or you do it because you hadn’t seen anything like it before and think it is just a really cool look.  However, with the new clothes and new looks comes new hairdos and hairstyles and with a new hairstyle, you sometimes need new products.

For example, if you had natural looks all through highschool or junior high, but you are now starting to listen to punk music or goth music and are dying your hair, your old shampoos and conditioners may not be as effective or good for your hair so you should start to look at color protecting shampoos and conditioners as well as color protecting styling products that help to repair and replenish your hair so that it is strong and healthy.

TIGI BedHead Dumb Blonde Shampoo Damage Treated 13.5 Oz Pump

TIGI BedHead Dumb Blonde Shampoo Damage Treated 13.5 Oz Pump

If you go blond for example, one of my favorite product lines for people who lighten their hair is TIGI and their Dumb Blonde Shampoo product however I used a different conditioner just because I liked the way the other conditioner smelled, even though it wasn’t a smart one to use on color treated hair.  I used to actually use them myself when I was a blond because they not only repaired my hair and made it safe to style and prevented the breakage and split ends from bleaching my hair to white, but it also did not stain or damage the color which many other products would have done.

You’re also going to want to use styling products that will actually help to repair and reverse the damage done by coloring it so that your hair does not start to break and fall out.  You need to be careful when you are using colors and chemicals if you have never dyed your hair before because they really can effect your hair and if you don’t buy products that repair the damage you can end up with tangled, dry and damaged hair, and if your styling products are not for colored hair either, your color could fade, you could further add to the damage and possible have your hair start to break and fall out.  So if you are dying your hair and still need to style it, I recommend looking at the Alterna Hemp styling products because they are infused with Hemp Seed Oil Extracts that actually help strengthen your hair and add shine back to your hair so it not only feels healthier, it also looks healthier and has more life to it.

Sebastian Molding Mud

Now, one alternative style that drives me crazy is the dreadlock.  And trust me I dread them.  Most people who have them get them y not washing their hair and then twisting it which to me is gross.  There is no reason on earth why you shouldn’t clean your hair.  Hygiene is seriously important and the hair care industry is advanced enough that they have created product that can easily achieve these hairstyles without you having to stop washing your hair or taking care of yourself.

Sebastian for example created a Fiber infused Sculpting Mud and a Clay that has a matte finish and can easily be used to create dreadlocks and other alternative messy hair styles so that you can still shower and have clean hair and also have that messy fun hippy look that you want.  Dreadlocks don’t have to be dirty any more and there is no reason to not wash your hair so if you want dreads or other messy styles, just buy a sculpting mud or clay and twist it in your hair after washing and you’ll still be able to have your dreadlocks, but in clean healthy and happy hair.

Going back to school is a very exciting time for people and also a scary one for parents as you never know what your kids will come home looking like or what their hair will look like.  But just remember, they are still your kids and although you may not understand why they want rainbow hair or huge messy dreadlocks, you can at least protect their hair and help to reverse the damage done to it by getting them the correct products to properly repair the damage and get their hair looking healthy again.
