Do you need a professional Lip Balm that actually works?

Then you need to consult a physician.  Just Kidding, but not really.  Lip Balms and products for chapped lips and severly chapped lips are just like any other skin care or hair care product where most of them or at least the higher end ones are designed for people with specific lip or skin issues.  I know that some people prefer natural cures and moisturizers while other people like the store bought and drugstore regular lip balms that come in the cherry or normal flavored lip  balm, but in reality you should consider a few things before you buy and begin using a lip balm this winter.

1.  Is your skin sensitive to any flavors or scents or even the dyes they use to color the lip balm?  If your skin is sensitive to dyes and colors and everything else, then you may want to think twice about which lip balm you want to use this winter.   By using a lip balm that has colors and flavors that you might be allergic too, you could actually possibly be doing more damage to your lips and possibly slow down the healing process instead of actually helping your lips heal.  They might smell and look great, but at the same time, wouldn’t you rather have something that helps you actually get better instead of something that gives you temporary relief and possibly makes your lips take longer to heal?

2.  Is the lip balm you are using the right kind of lip balm for your lips.  The thing is that most of the lip balms you find in drugstores are actually designed for people with all skin types and lip issues, but in reality, they probably all work similar until you start to look at the higher end lip balms where you can start to find lip balms with better ingredients that are designed to help heal, instead of smell or color your lips.  I always recommend going with a better ingredient than something that smells or is flavored because if my lips get chapped, then I just want them healed and could care less about my lip balm tasting great.

It is important to remember that if you are buying or need to buy lip balm this winter that you buy one that works with your skin to help heal your lips and not just taste good or look pretty.  If you use a lip balm that helps to heal your skin, you can start using a color, etc… even faster without having any or as much pain as you would if you use a lower end lip balm that only gives you temporary relief.   Anyways, I hate chapped lips and in the winter I completely recommend that everyone uses a lip balm that is more high end and actually helps to cure and heal your chapped lips.

What is the most important thing to bring when you travel?  A deep cleaning face mask.

I have been traveling since about 4 am and not only was I sweating and using public restrooms at the airport and just feeling completely dirty, but after I had a million meetings and a serious lack of food I went back to my hotel and felt dirty, tired and completely worn out.   I am sure you have all felt that way after you had a trip or were on a trip and all you want to do is clean up and go to bed, but unfortunately you still have a ton of work to do since you were on a plane all day.

Anyways, thank gosh I remembered to pack smart because even though I am tired and cranky and wanting to be in my own bed back home, I do have one thing that is almost an instant relief and make you feel better product, I have a deep cleaning face mask that I can use and within a few minutes feel a million times better and completely refreshed.

It sounds ridiculous and completely insane, but when you are tired and feel dirty and just don’t want to do anything else, if you give your face a deep cleaning, for some reason you just feel a lot better.  I have no idea why cleaning your face can wake you up and make you feel refreshed but for some reason for me it really does and I am soo happy that I brought my deep cleaning face mask with me on this trip because without it I would be absolutely miserable and probably not be able to do the rest of my work tonight.

Anyways, one of the masks I use is the Holy Mud Dead Sea mask and I actually really like this one.  Not only does it work for deep cleaning, but it also feels amazing when you put it on and even better when you wash it off.  I love the holy mud deep cleaning face mask and if you have a trip planned anywhere soon, you should seriously look into buying a deep cleaning mask for when you get to your hotel and you will be amazed at how much better you instantly feel after using a deep cleaning face mask.  I highly recommend them and if you want to try one that seems to pretty good and is all natural and very affordable in case security at the airport considers it a liquid, then you may want to try the Holy Mud Dead Sea Mask which you can buy on sale at Hair Care Discounters.

Products for Dancers Hair. Hair products for ponytails and pulled back styles.

One thing that I hate about sports like dance is that they are way to set on body type, shape, your looks, your age, your height, your outfit, etc… and unfortunately, skill and skill sets take second or are about the same amount of importance to the people who everyone thinks you need to impress.  Although having a lean figure is important to be able to show off the lines and positions and your grace while dancing, at the same time there are a ton of larger women who can dance and are just as good, but never get the roles.  There are also a lot of other women who are amazingly talented but since there is a the pretty popular girl next to her or a girl that can afford better beauty products or have a stylist who can recommend the right products to use, she may get the job because her hair and skin and nails may be in better condition.  So in order to help level the playing field for dancers everywhere, I wanted to recommend a few products that may help you to not only increase your appearance from a stage to the audience, but also help you win the judges over so they focus on your ability to dance (which is the most important thing) and since they see you have gorgeous skin and hair and nails, they won’t focus on that.  Once your hair, etc… look amazing, your skill and your talent will help you get the roles you want in the show.  Everyone should be judged on their talent, but because that isn’t always the case, here are some products to look at using.

MoroccanOil Oil Treatment – This oil treatment is one that almost everyone in our office has used and we all love it.  It not only helps you to have shinier and silkier hair, but it will help to repair damage done by a straightening iron for your hair to be pulled in a bun or in a pony tail or however you style it for dancing, but it will also help your hair look and appear more healthy and manageable.  MoroccanOil is a seriously amazing product for dancer hairstyles.  This is a product you have to have if you want good hair for the judges and for the show.  Buy MoroccanOil and you will see the difference almost immediately.

Holy Mud Masks and Dermalogica Acne Treatments – Skin is seriously important and everyone is going to notice skin that has blemishes and that is not moisturized or healthy.  It is important to use masks like the holy mud pumpkin exfoliating masks and the deep cleaning toning mask like the Dead Sea Mud Mask and also use an acne product like the Dermalogica acne treatment so that your skin is clean and new, then use a moisturizer or moisturizing mask like the oat and honey mask to nourish and moisturize your skin.  Having good skin will definitely help your chances of landing a better role in your show.

The last thing to remember is to not use makeup or nail polish that stands out.  You want a nail polish that blends in or is a neutral color so the judges and the people in the audience actually watch you dance and not your hands getting in the way.  Your hands are as important as your arms and legs and if you have a color that stands out, it will take away from what you are doing with your body.  Keep your nails with a neutral color and your dancing will show itself off even more and you will look a million times better. Barefoot in Barcelona is a perfect color for this.  Or use a tan or pink color for your nails.

Anyways, it is absolutely horrible that dancers have to not only dance well but also get judged on appearance, but with the products above and taking a bit of time each day, everyone can compete on all levels and if you use the products in this post, you may begin to get a step up and small advantage over the people who have not found this post.  Dancing is amazing so focus on getting better and let these products work on the rest.  You will not only feel better by using products that can help you look better, but you’ll have an advantage over the other girls when you are auditioning for a role and have an advantage when performing since the audience will have a better chance of noticing your hair and then watching you.   Proper hair, skin and nail care is key to dancers getting roles in shows and key to moving forward in life.  Pick the products that work for you and then work on your skills.

Just because a celebrity uses a product does not mean that you should.

I caught myself the other day falling into a serious Marketing trap.  I ended up almost buying a new beauty product even though I knew that it was not the right skin type for me and probably wouldn’t have any benefits for me.  I fell for it because of a well known celebrity who endorses the product and this celebrity has amazing skin.  The thing that I almost forgot when I was about to buy the product is that just because a product works on one person does not mean that it is going to work on you or everyone or even have any benefits for you.

Companies spend Millions of Dollars on their Marketing and celebrities can get paid millions to endorse certain products and say they cannot live with out them or they are the only products that they like, however, that does not mean they always use them or only use them.   Now suppose the celebrity does actually use the product and it does actually work for them, that is fantastic that they have a product that they promote that actually works and that they actually use, but that does not mean that it will work for you.

You need to ask yourself, Do you know that celebrity in person so you can call them up and not only find out their skin type, but if they have a makeup artist or someone else come help make sure they are applying it right?  Do they combine it with other products, do they have to change the product depending on if they are traveling which is why their skin remains perfect, because if your skin type is different than theirs, guess what, you may have different results then them and the product might end up not working for you at all.

Marketing departments in the fashion world are amazing with getting everyone to buy products they don’t want or need and especialy with clothing and cosmetics, you would be amazed at how much stuff we all buy that in reality we should have never wasted our money on….especially since some of the benefits are only in our minds and in reality our skin or nails or hair haven’t actually changed or been improved.   Ayways, I wanted to remind everyone that before you buy a beauty product or a new hair product, think about your hair type or skin type first instead of how good the celebrity looks when they are endorsing the product and then think if it is the right type of product to help with your skin and not just the celebrity who is endorsing it.   This is the key part of finding products that work for you and not just work for the manufacturer.

Nothing feels better than a moisture and deep cleaning mask after the flu

Ok, so I had the flu really bad the other week and need to apologize about the serious lack of posting.  I had a fever, was achy and just seriously not feeling well at all.  Anyways, after sweating and getting dehydrated and laying in bed for about a week, you just feel so dry and cruddy and really dirty and smelly so I decided to treatmyself to a couple of things which completely helped me to feel instantly more fresh, awake and alive again after the flu was gone.

The first thing I did was use a deep cleanser that also exfoliates your skin like the Murad Exfoliating Cleanser which we have on sale as a quick heads up.  I love that it not only exfoliates the dead and old skin cells off of your skin which for me is more mental than anything that it is cleaning and removing all the dead sick and flu skin cells leaving fresh healthy skin behind, but it also helps to give your skin a serious cleaning which I love even more.  This is something I will never go without when I need to clean and exfoliate my face after a serious flu and fever because I just feel a million times better afterwards when I know I helped to start getting rid of all of the disgusting dead skin cells that sat untouched while I was stuck in bed with the flu.   This is a seriously fabulous type of product to have, especially after the flu.

Now, even though I just used a deep cleaner, for me that wasn’t enough so I also used a deep cleaning mask like the Dead Sea Mud Mask from Holy Mud to not only help make sure I got my skin as clean as possible, but also because I love the way your skin feels when you take off a deep cleaning mask.

Now, after my skin and face feels completely clean after using my deep cleaning products, the last thing I do is use a moisturizing mask like the oat and honey mask from Holy Mud which I love because after you have had a fever for a few days, your skin and your hair feel soo dry and damaged and are craving moisture and balance to your skin and your hair.  Your skin and hair even look dehydrated usually when you have the flu so you seriously need to get the moisture back to your hair and your skin and using a moisture mask is a great way to start.

Anyways, the flu was horrible and I am soo happy to not have it anymore and because of the products I always keep in my house to help repair dry skin and deep clean your skin, I was able to leave the house after the flu looking fabulous and amazing.

Thank You Holy Mud, We Love You!

Well at least I love them.  Yesterday a box came in the mail to me from the Holy Mud company and when I opened it there were a ton of free samples in there of all 5 of the holy mud masks.  I guess complaining that you want to try the new Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask really does work some times…to bad I already bought a full sized bottle of it.

Anyways, I love that we actually got a box of every one of the face masks from Holy Mud and tonight I am completely excited to try the French Pink Clay Toning Face Mask which they changed the name of to the DMAE Mask, and even though the Dead Sea mask is supposed to be one of their best, I am still a bit scared to try it.  The other one I can’t wait to try is the Honey and Oat Moisturizing Mask.  The Tuscan Clay one would have been perfect for me for Summer, but I actually just bought a completely different one so when it runs out I’ll give the green Tuscan Clay Vitamin C Esters Face Mask a try, especially because I have a sample of it now. However, the one that I have tried again and bought the full bottle of is the Exfoliating Pumpkin Mask from Holy Mud.

Although it does seem to work for me, it honestly wasn’t my favorite.  I didn’t really like the feeling when I put it on, but then again I hate most exfoliating masks.  It was a bit hard to get on completely when I used it the first time, but when I tried it a second time it actually went on a lot smoother and easier.  The trick is to use your fingers to apply it or something besides the plastic application and mixing tool that comes in the box with the mask.

Now, when you put it on, you do feel the tingling and other little pinches that happen when you use any exfoliating mask that works, however I hate that feeling which is why I usually avoid all exfoliating masks, but then again we all need to use them sometime so you just have to suck it up and deal with it sometimes and to be honest, it is only for about a minute so its not like it is a horrible thing and your skin does look and feel better afterwards.  One thing I definitely did jump for right after I exfoliated though was my SPF-17 Moisturizing face cream to completely moisturize myself again, but I do that after anything I do with my face and after any mask, besides moisturizing and toning masks which is why I am excitexd to try the Oat and Honey Mask.

Anyways, I like the masks and am excited to try the other ones and then be able to tell you how they worked, etc…  The Pumpkin one is ok, not my favorite but I hate most exfoliating masks so on a scale of 1 to 10 if I actually liked them, the Holy Mud one would get about an 8 since it did work, it is extremely affordable and the Pumpkin stunk at first but smelled nice after a while.  This is a definite try if you want a new and organic or all natural face mask and exfoliating mask.

If you have been following this blog and reading some of the article posts instead of the product blogging posts, you’ll remember one we did on why some shampoos cost more than other shampoos and if they are really better or if it is just marketing hype.  The truth is, or at least what it appears to be is that with these products, and we aren’t talking about a $5 bottle vs a $6 bottle but a $5 bottle vs a product that costs $20 or even $200 for the same size,  you are normally paying more for the product because you will probably get a lot more out of it.

Take the Alterna Ten Shampoo and Conditioner that I am in love with now.  It retails for around $60 per bottle of each (Available at Hair Care Discounters for $40+/- depending on what sale is going on) and compare it to a shampoo like Pantene that I used to use when I was in college.

Although I loved Pantene and always loved usinng it because it worked well with my hair, until I tried the more expensive shampoo and the other day when I had the flu and my air dried out, you can seriously tell the difference with what it does to and for your hair.  When you have a product like Alterna Ten or Murads Intensive Wrinkle Cream you are paying for a ton of things and not just something that may work a bit but is mass produced for the mass markets.  You are paying for the years of research that goes into creating the formulas for their products, you are paying for the countless hours of experts and even scientists that are working around the clock to discover how to better protect your hair and your skin and help you from getting wrinkles and eeding painful things like botox or facelifts….or at least help you to prolong have to go for them.   You are paying for much higher quality of ingredients that are not always easy to get or come by and you are paying for the overall quality and effectiveness that these products normally provide.   Think about it, if they didn’t work for most people, these products would not be available for so long and probably not have as many good reviews as they do.  Now, you do have to remember though that everyone’s skin types are different and it may not work as well on your skin as it does on others, but then again, think about how much more botox is or a trip to the plastic surgeon and tell me that this isn’t even worth giving a try since it is painless and a lot less expensive and something that can help prevent wrinkles before they begin to appear.  Now, this stuff won’t remove your wrinkles, but it will help prevent them and work with your skin to reduce them, however if you don’t have them yet or are just getting them then there is no better time to try the Murad Intensive Wrinkle Cream to help prevent them from coming even faster and help your face look young and full of life.

Now not everyone agrees with me on this, but I definitely think that my face and looking young is worth at least the $119.99 that this is on sale for today and if I am not willing to try products to help keep my face wrinkle free, then I should kiss my moisturizers goodbye and say hellow to a charpei’s face and crows feet, but since I know that my face is worth it and worth protecting and preventing aging and wrinkles, this is something that I am not afraid to spend a little bit extra on to see if it will work for me.

HOLY Mud Changed its packaging and its products, but it is still fabulous!

So I noticed something different about Holy Mud when I was looking for one of their old face masks.  They ended up changing all of their packaging and got rid of some of their old masks.  To be honest, I don’t see why they did it, but I do love the new packaging and although you only get 3oz for each bottle of Holy Mud Face Masks, they are still fabulous and work amazingly well for what they are supposed to do.  They also released a few new masks which I am completely excited to try,,,I am hoping I can talk my bosses into giving me a bottle of the Pumpkin Glycolic Mask to give a try, and if they don’t want to I’ll buy it anyways since I love Pumpkin and am looking for a new exfoliating face mask anyways and since it is fall and pumpkin is in season, why not give this one a go, especially since I love their masks and have always loved their products.

So lets go over the new Holy Mud Face Mask line of products and see their brand new face mask as well.  Remember though, they changed from a 5oz (I think) bottle to a 3 oz bottle so you may want to order two of them instead of one since it is about 2/5 smaller than the old bottles but don’t worry, even though the bottles are smaller the formulas are just as good and work just as well as the old bottles and old packages.

Sooo anyways, enough rambling, lets go over the new Holy Mud Masks and the old ones and let you see their new packaging and products…I think they just renamed some of them, but they did add in a 5th mask finally and I cannot wait to give them all a try.

The Holy Mud Honey and Oat Mask is the Holy Mud companus hydrating mask.  They not only kept the name the same, but they kept the formula the same too.  The only differences in the Honey and Oat Hydrating Mask is the packaging and the size of the bottle the face mask comes in.  Personally, I think everyone could use a hydrating face mask everyonce in a while and this weekend since I had the flu I feel completely dehydrated from the fever and am going to be using a hydrating mask and lotion today to replenish my skin.  Hydrating masks are important for everyone to keep on hand or at least in their houses because your skin needs to be hydrated in order to look and feel healthy and masks are a great way to help you get that healthy moisture and look back in and to tay in your skin.  Not to mention they smell and feel great.  The Honey and Oat Mask is a must have from the Holy Mud company and one that you need to have an extra bottle of in your medicine cabinet or on your counter for use when you need it and as the directions tell you to use it.  I love this mask and know you will to.

This is the brand new mask from the Holy Mud Company which I did another blog post about here.   This is their exfoliating mask and their hottest selling product…or at least it should be for fall.  Pumpkin is one of my favorite smells and scents so although I haven’t tried this mask yet, if it has the pumpkin scent I know I am going to go crazy for it and love it just for the smell, not to mention all the benefits you get when you use exfoliating products and masks on your face.  Anyways, this is the brand new mask from Holy Mud and I am definitely going to be trying this one and highly recommend that you do to.

The Vitamin C Ester Mask is pretty much the Tuscan Clay Mud Mask but with a new name.  This mask is actually a pretty good one for you to use and as we all know Vitamin C can definitely be a very good thing for you skin.  This is a good mask and a ton of people like it, however it isn’t one of my top choices when I want to find a repairing mask, however that is just a personal preferance.  It is definitely worth trying though if you have never tried this one before.
