Big Beautiful Red Hair.

One thing I have been noticing a lot lately which is a completely unexpected surprise to the fashion world is that red hair and red heads are coming back in full force. Now, it isn’t the big red hair bouffants that our favorite divas like Peggy Bundy from Married With Children wore, but red hair that is still big, but more beautiful and more modern or at least fashion forward.

Anyways, in honor of the big red hair making a serious comeback recently, I thought I would take a post and honor some of the lovely ladies, Carrot Top, etc… are going to be left out of this one, sorry guys, and share some of our very favorite big red hair hairdos from our leading ladies with big red hair. Lets call it a big red hair history lesson for all the people who love their big red hair and are helping to bring big red hair back into style and fashion.

Although we have some gorgeous modern women wearing big red hairdos, nothing is as fabulous or famous as the big red hair on top of the fabulous and amazing Joy Behar’s head from The View and her show on CNN. This award almost went to Reba, but Joy, you won my heart over. We love you and your big red hair. Way to bring big hair back, make it more modern and above all, make big red hair work and be memorable in a good way.

The next leading lady on our list is probably the biggest red head in the world with the most memorable red hair everywhere.  Although we would love to give the historical red hair to Willma Flinstone, unfortunately her hair wasn’t high enough to even compete with this lovely lady.  The historical red hair diva award goes the fabulous and famous Miss Bette Midler.   Unfortunately the Divine Miss M went blond in her later years but even though we still love her, nothing compared with that huge red hair from Beaches and the 80’s.  Bette we loved the red but I love the Blond even more.  Thank you also for the amazing show in Vegas.  If you haven’t had a chance to see her live, you need to go to the Bette Midler show.  She is amazing!

Ok, the last lady wins the most fabulous leading lady with red hair.  Normally Bette would have won the most fabulous leading lady with red hair, but because of her role in the movie Troop Beverly Hills, nothing screams fabulous more than the ever deserving Shelly Long.

Not only is she the best dressed red hair diva in the world, but her use of the word fabulous, her lifestyle and fashion sense give us the right to call her character and her the diva and winner of the most fabulous red haired diva in the world.  Shelly we love you and hope to see you and your red hair in many more Movies.

Other honorable mentions include Goldie Hawn (My Personal Favorite) in Death Becomes her with the fabulous Meryl Streep, Lindsey Lohan and many others.  The only reason they didn’t make the list is that their hair was never worn high enough. Fall Fashion andFall Hair are Here, Are you in Style?

So I am sooo excited for all of the fall fashion colors and styles.  Not only did vintage come in huge again this season for regular and couture, but deep dark rich colors like Purples, Blues, Greys and Blues made a strong and quick impact onto clothing and even in jewelry for this fall. For hair and nails, Hair is seriously strong this season with being straight and very styled and nails are going with solid colors or very bold and detailed but not overdone designs.

Some of the hair I have seen in the fashion world this Fall is crazy.  The stylists are choosing straight hair with crazy designs like they are flattening the hair and them taking it and creating thick flat squares and other shapes then wrapping them around the head, creating crazy designs and even using them to design shapes around the persons head and even to move around decorations and hair pieces and sometimes even using strong holding products to hold in the hair accessories instead of the acessories being used to hold the hair.   The hair season for fall is all about flat hair with cool designs and new ways to hold your hair and create shapes and styles that work with your face and are going in crazy designs to help take the vintage clothing and show it off but alos take an old look and bring it modern with a crazy hairstyle or cut.  The one thing to remember this fall though if you want a crazy and flat hairstyle, even if it is a bob, is that noone is wearing it down over their face.  Be very cautious to not let anyone talk you into bangs or hairstyles that hang over your face or you will completely loose the vintage look in your clothing while everyone is wearing vintage but making it modern with hair that is fun and colors that are bold and rich on their nails.  However, not everyone can do their hair for high fashion and to be honest, high fashion looks pretty stupid for everyday wear but what I am loving with fall hairstyles is that it is still all about straight and flat hair with assymertrical looks and styles and still professional and fun.

This fall the bob has made a huge comeback again.  You can always expect a bob haircut when you have vintage clothing, but now people are taking the bob and instead of just going assymetrical with it, they are taking it and shaping it with flat irons and then using glues and other products to hold it down to their face for shorter hair and instead of using products to hold their shape and add volume into the longer bobs (non pixie bob cuts and more mature bobs instead of college aged bobs) they are keeping it flat and using more products for health so that you have a straight and healthy look instead of volume that can frizz.  Kind of like what Victoria Adams-Beckham used to wear just after the 90s with her straight and symmetrical bob, except now people are doing it assymetrical and sometimes using different accessories to add a modern twist into their hair.

Now, bobs aren’t the only style back in this fall.  Long straight hair is back but done sex in the city style like Charolette but don’t worry if you have and like curly and full hair looks like Carrie because I can easily see those gorgeous curls coming back for early winter and late fall with Season 6 styled winter gowns (just like the ones that Carrie wore for her going away party and while she was in Paris) and clothing except with more vintage highlights in it.

Now, if you look at fall jewelry and gems for this fall, you are going to see that OPI got their line in perfectly for the fall season.  Everyone everywhere is using dark and rich colors and the gemstones you are seeing everywhere are all darker and more rich colors.  I have also seen a huge come back in colored pearls for the fall.  Peacock pearls and cutured purple and green colored pearls are back big time and if you look at the OPI Espana collection that they released for the fall, they got their color line perfect with all of their deep rich colors and my favorite in the line the OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow which not only matches the flat hair cuts but also all of the dark vintage colors and all of the dark fabrics and gemstones that people are buying for the fall.

If you have been watching and paying attention to fashion this fall, you have seen the bob and flat hair and dark rich colors come back very fast and really take over.  We are loving all of the dark and rich colors and vintage clothing and modern hairstyles and if you are going to go with fashion for a change, this is definitely the season and the trend to go with as vintage and deep rich colors are amazing and look great with everyone.  Just make sure to buy a hair treatment if you are straightening your hair and you cannot go wrong with any of the colors in the OPI Espana collection.

Creating Wavy Hair With a Flat Iron – Fast and Easy!

So people always think that flat irons are used for straightening your hair, however Flat Irons are actually a multi-purpose tool that can be used to help you create those amazing waves too.

Using your flat iron to create wavey hair is actually very easy to do and once you get the hang of it you’ll be able to turn your straight hair into wavey hair in no time at all.

The first thing to do is to heat your iron, our preferred Hair Iron for doing this is the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Flat Iron as it has ceramic plates to help with your hair, heats quickly and helps to prevent frizz.

While your iron heats up, blow out your hair so that it is dry enough for you to style.  You may also want to use MoroccanOil or another repair product when using heated styling products to help protect your hair from damage.

When you have your hair dried and ready for styling, start with the front of your hair at the top and take your heated flat iron down your hair while flipping it at 180 degree turns.  This creates nice waves in your hair.  Work your hair around from the front to the back of your hair and when doing the back, you may want to set up a second mirror when you are first learning how to create waves so that you can see what you are doing.  When you have more practice, doing the back of your hair will become second nature for you and you’ll just know when it is done and matches he waves in the front of your hair.

Now if you want stronger waves and you weren’t able to get them on your first time around your hair.  Don’t keep doing the same strands over and over again.  What you should do so you cause less damage to your hair and get better style is to let the strand cool off and move on to the next section of your hair then once the original strands have cooled down, go back to them and begin the process of working your hair from top to bottom flipping the iron at 180 degree turns and your hair will begin to get those gorgeous waves back in your hair so that you can have gorgeous wavy hair like you see in hair commercials and when the actresses walk the red carpet.

Now, some other things you can do to enhance the look of your new wavey hair include using a hair oil afterwards like MoroccanOil which not only helps to repair damage, but also add in shine and health, (To use MoroccanOil Oil Treatment, pour a drop into your hands and rub it together in your palms then run it through your hair from top to bottom and let it stay there, do not rinse it out), or use a styling poduct like any of the Mousses or Volumizing products from Alterna Hemp to hold your hair from deflating and add in a natural shine from the Hemp Seed Oils that are in the Alterna Hemp Line.

How to create alternative hairstyles and be able to wash your hair.

So when I was looking through our product lines and thinking about something fun to write today, I realized that it is almost back to school time and for high school and college students that means new trends, new cliques and possibly finding new hobbies.

With those new groups of friends and new ideas thoughts or beliefs that come with them, a lot of times you find yourself buying new clothes to match your friends and their cliques or you do it because you hadn’t seen anything like it before and think it is just a really cool look.  However, with the new clothes and new looks comes new hairdos and hairstyles and with a new hairstyle, you sometimes need new products.

For example, if you had natural looks all through highschool or junior high, but you are now starting to listen to punk music or goth music and are dying your hair, your old shampoos and conditioners may not be as effective or good for your hair so you should start to look at color protecting shampoos and conditioners as well as color protecting styling products that help to repair and replenish your hair so that it is strong and healthy.

If you go blond for example, one of my favorite product lines for people who lighten their hair is TIGI and their Dumb Blonde Shampoo product however I used a different conditioner just because I liked the way the other conditioner smelled, even though it wasn’t a smart one to use on color treated hair.  I used to actually use them myself when I was a blond because they not only repaired my hair and made it safe to style and prevented the breakage and split ends from bleaching my hair to white, but it also did not stain or damage the color which many other products would have done.

You’re also going to want to use styling products that will actually help to repair and reverse the damage done by coloring it so that your hair does not start to break and fall out.  You need to be careful when you are using colors and chemicals if you have never dyed your hair before because they really can effect your hair and if you don’t buy products that repair the damage you can end up with tangled, dry and damaged hair, and if your styling products are not for colored hair either, your color could fade, you could further add to the damage and possible have your hair start to break and fall out.  So if you are dying your hair and still need to style it, I recommend looking at the Alterna Hemp styling products because they are infused with Hemp Seed Oil Extracts that actually help strengthen your hair and add shine back to your hair so it not only feels healthier, it also looks healthier and has more life to it.

Now, one alternative style that drives me crazy is the dreadlock.  And trust me I dread them.  Most people who have them get them y not washing their hair and then twisting it which to me is gross.  There is no reason on earth why you shouldn’t clean your hair.  Hygiene is seriously important and the hair care industry is advanced enough that they have created product that can easily achieve these hairstyles without you having to stop washing your hair or taking care of yourself.

Sebastian for example created a Fiber infused Sculpting Mud and a Clay that has a matte finish and can easily be used to create dreadlocks and other alternative messy hair styles so that you can still shower and have clean hair and also have that messy fun hippy look that you want.  Dreadlocks don’t have to be dirty any more and there is no reason to not wash your hair so if you want dreads or other messy styles, just buy a sculpting mud or clay and twist it in your hair after washing and you’ll still be able to have your dreadlocks, but in clean healthy and happy hair.

Going back to school is a very exciting time for people and also a scary one for parents as you never know what your kids will come home looking like or what their hair will look like.  But just remember, they are still your kids and although you may not understand why they want rainbow hair or huge messy dreadlocks, you can at least protect their hair and help to reverse the damage done to it by getting them the correct products to properly repair the damage and get their hair looking healthy again.

I wanted to do something fun today and instead of talking about products or how to do styles and nails, I wanted to talk about a lost hairstyle that somehow always makes a comeback and always stands out. It seems like whenever this hairstyle is worn by someone on tv, in a movie or even in real life, that person always stands out, is either loved or hated but one thing is for sure, it is always the character that people remember for some reason. So without a doubt, in our opinion, the Bouffant is above and beyond the most memorable and versatile hair style that you can use to make an impression and in this post we are going to visit our favorite bouffants throughout history,,,or at least that is what I am pretending when in reality it is just famous people with Bouffants. Not only is Peg Bundy fun and flirty, but she is white trash ghetto fab from Chicago.  The Peg Bundy Bouffant is red and rampaging, just like her personality.  Her look is larger than life and so was her character.

Remember her always whining AAAALLLLLLL….well I feel bad for Als hairspray bill as this baby probably busts up her Bouffant with a can of spray a day.  Not to mention Mousse and more for body fullness and lift and texture.

This is the famous, the “Absolutely Fabulous” and always liquored Patsy Stone sporting her famous and Fabulous Ivana Trump Styled Bouffant hairdo.  Much Like Ivana, Patsy is a socialite that know where the party is and is always on the cusp and high end of Fashion.

Her Big Blond Bouffant is not only gorgeous, but you actually get to watch her style her Bouffant in multiple episodes of the hit Bristish TV series Absolutely Fabulous, and with watching her hair go up to the heavens, we now know how the hairspray and style companies made it through the 80s recetion.  They all invested in Boufants lol.  =0)

Ab Fab may be over, but the big and beautiful bouffant that Patsy worked into fashion will always remain a glamour mark in our history books.

In more recent times we have come across a new woman of the do.  She not only made her claim as a staunch conservative, but she also made her claim to fame with her big brown Bouffant while running for the Vice President of the United States of America.  It is the one and the only, Sarah Palin Bouffant.

Sarah Palin is famous for a lot of things.  Being a very opininated Politician from Alaska, the first woman to get to run for the Vice President position in the US Government, but if you noticed one thing about the entire time she ran.  Something everyone commented on and something nobody realized was where her power came from.

What got Sarah Palin all that fame and what did everyone mention and all the fabulous actors like Tina Fey use to portray her?  Her fabulous and famous Bouffant haircut.  Yup, Peggy did it in the 80s, Patsy in the 90s and thanks to Sarah Palin, the power hair the Bouffant came back in the new Millenium and even helped her get a Vice President nomination.

Whether you like or hate Sarah Palin, the one thing you can definitely agree on is she does have a great do.  The Sarah Palin Bouffant should go down in history as the bouffant that almost lead America….Told you this was a powerful hairstyle.   And speaking of Politicians that had this up do, here was one that lost her head over her hair….literally.

This lady sure enough set her hair up.  In fact, some historians…well not really….consider her the founder of the Bouffant.  Because of this lady, thousands of women have been able to style their hair up to the sky and scream in joy with big heavy hairdos that make their place in the world.

Although Mary was sort of a Mary with that whole cake thing, at least she could stack and layer her hair, so in reality with her saying Let Them Eat Cake, could she really have been thinking of a yellow layered wedding cake with almond buttercream icing and saying that it is only proper to have high hair that you style by layers then frost with styling spray and really not have actually had to offend her people and loose her head.  Could her hair style really have been what caused her fall and not just her fame.  Maybe she should have said PIE instead, but then again you could always say she had been “PIE”ling hair to get that do.

The queen of Bouffants certainly made her mark and lost her head, but not her hair.  These girls knew how to wear hair and if you wear a bouffant, you should look back and see how they did it in the old skool days with Marie Antoinette.

Not just one of my favorite movies of all time.  Hairspray by John Waters originally starring Ricky Lake, the Marrisa Jaret Warnicker and lots of other fabulous actresses famous by piling their hair hopping up to the sky, but he also created a movie all about this Hair Hopper Hairstyle.

Tracy Turnblad no matter what she was going was always looking for her hair to make sure it never went flat.  Because as she knows and any other bouffant wearing lady in charge knows, if your hair falls so does your power so keep it high, keep it hard and keep it pointing to the sky.

Tracy was not only able to bring integration to Baltimore and land the man of her dreams, not to mention a spot on a famous TV show, but she was always able to maintain a fabulous high hair.

Because of this Bouffant, Tracy was able to conquer the world and reach the stars.  So it seems like there is one thing in common. With Tracy and all of these other fabulous bouffant wearing women.

If you are a women and wearing a bouffant, and you are ready to take over the world.  Don’t deflate your hair or let it fall because if you want Power like Palin, Pleasure like Peggy, Parties like Patsy, Pastries like Marie or A Place in the World like Tracy, all you really need is a Bouffant and the drive to achieve.  These ladies did it and so can you.

How to have straight shiny sexy hair.

A common question women have with their hair is how do I get it to go and stay straight?  The thing is that it isn’t just that simple, just because your hair is straight doesn’t mean it will have that gorgeous shine or that healthy look to it.  You also have to decide if you want thick straight hair, if you want it thin and laying down, how you would like to style it or what length you want, etc…  Getting your hair straight is only the first step and although it is sometimes the most difficult step, we are here to help you discover how to get straight hair and make it look healthy and full of life.

The first thing is to decide on the length of your hair so you can figure out if you are doing a Bob Cut a pixie style, long sexy hair or even shoulder length hair that you can pull back into a pony tail or wear down to your shoulders to show off a necklace or you can use your gorgeous newly straightened and shiney hair to show off a ring by putting your hand by your chin or along the gorgeous shine of your straight hair.

Soo anyways, onto how to have straight hair or how to straighten your hair.

The key to having straight hair and how to straighten your hair is not the technique, but finding out what products will work best on your hair type and how to do it without damaging your hair.  So although I cannot be there with each of you to see your hair and make a recommendation on how to straighten your hair, I am going to recommend some of the best products on the market for straightening your hair and then what to do to give it that gorgeous healthy shine and look.

Now, I’m going to do this by product line, but please feel free to mix and match or decide which works best for you and your budget so that you can style your hair to that straight hair style you have always wanted.

Are Bob Cuts the cuts of the Fall season?

I’ve been searching around the web and reading a lot of fashion magazines lately and I keep noticing one thing this summer. More and more Bob haircuts are starting to show up in the photos with Actors, Actresses and Models and it is carrying over to American women of all ages.

I’m seeing women from their mid thirties to late forties wearing your traditional bob cut that lays flat and nice by your shoulders giving the classic bob look, as well as college and high school ages girls going from their short pixie styled hair cuts and morphing them into asymetrical bob hair cuts. We’re even seeing them come out in Movies like Speed Racer with Christina Ricci to Singers like Katie Perry and fashion Icons who have always sported them like Victoria Beckham.

Anyway you look at it, Bobs have been coming back big time since last year and this year you can barely turn around without another lady changing her hair style to some sort of bob, and who can blame them.  Bobs are fun, the move freely, if you have healthy hair, they shine (or you can use Sexy Hair Big Shine Spray to help it along), they can be cut asymmetrical and fun, or look classy and exotic. Bob haircuts can also be used to accent and frame your face.  You can tilt your hair and have one side highlighted while the other side has a gorgeous backdrop of your hair, you can pull one side behind your ear if your bob is a bit longer and you can even pull it forward and let the front ends curl up under or above your chin a bit to help frame that perfect face if you wear a shorter to mid sized bob.

Bob hair cuts are also a fantastic style because they are extremely easy to maintain.  Once you have it shaped and use the proper products a few days, you’ll start to notice that your hair will seem like it is starting to all of the sudden fall right back in to place.  Now that isn’t true for everyone, but if you wear it long enough and use the proper tools on it, your hair will seem like it naturally takes on the shape.  One thing though, make sure you choose the proper bob for your face.  I prefer to see shorter bobs on women with round faces, medium sized bobs on women who have more of the rectangle (bangs can sometimes look good with this too) and if you have the long ovular face, I recommend a longer bob for you.  This is just my opinion on what I think looks and works best, but hey we all have different thoughts on hair and the most important part about picking your style of bob and length is to do what makes you happy, makes you feel good and be proud to step outside and show your new hairstyle off to the world.

Now, some tools that I recommend to help create and either improve upon or maintain your bob include:

  • A Babyliss or CHI Hair Iron – To mold and shape or straighten parts of or all of your bob.
  • A spray or myst – To hold your hair in place so you don’t loose all the hard work you spent on making your Bob look perfect (I think my aunt used to use Moose on hers, but I have never needed to when I used to style a bob so try it if you want, but I never used Moose for this style).

And that’s pretty much it.

How to do a Mens Hairstyle that is professional & executive looking

So ladies and gentlemen, something most moms and girlfriends wonder about their sons or boyfriends, even husbands sometimes is “Does the man in my life dress appropriate and is his hair professional looking enough to be looked at repectfully at work?”  Sure we may not want to admit it out loud and some of us may just let it go, but if you were ever in my family, you would hear it on a daily basis, “Hunny, your hair looks a mess, fix it up nice and neat so that people will take you serious!”

My mom would say that to my dad, she would say it to my friends and really just about anyone who didn’t have a hairstyle that she would think was proper and professional enough for the workplace, so I figured why not share a hairstyle that is still hip and trendy, sexy enough to wear out after work to a happy hour and is easy enough to do that you can have your hair done within 2 minutes!  Because we know, most guys usually don’t want to take to long (or at least admit to having to spend to much time) on their hair and appearance.

So this post is designed to help you help all the men in your life have a hairstyle that is professional enough to stand in front of an executive team with, fun and youthfull enough to go to a happy hour or party in and still classy enough to feel good about yourself in.  It is perfect for men from the age of 20 to 60.

Now this hairstyle does require a few things:

1. Short hair.  Anything hanging below your ears is a bit to long.

2. Product – I use a lasting hairspray that will get through the day and start to break in the evening.  (You can always redo this if you want it to stay the same at night, remember it only takes two minutes to do and can be done anywhere!)

3.  Two minutes from your day in the morning after you get dressed.

Anyways, here is how to do this mens professional hairstyle in two minutes time and the products I use.

1.  Start by washing your hair:

I wash mine every day but if you do every other day or every two days, this style will still work well for you, if not easier.  You just won’t have as many defined lines in your bangs or on your head, instead you will have thicker strands.

I used Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner for this hairstyle this morning, mainly because I like the thickness of the product and how it leaves my hair when I finish styling it.  Curly Sexy Hair Shampoo and Curly Sexy Hair Conditioner seem to help me add extra volume to my hair, which I love because it becomes soo much easier to style Mens Professional Hairstyles with and because it is easier for me to shape since I do not use any tool or appliances like brushes or combs or dryers on this hairstyle.

Since many peoples hair does have some natural curl in it anyways, with the volume that this shampoo and conditioner set adds to your hair, and it’s ability to emphasize the curls and help to enrich them, I am almost tempted to say that it also helps with the end step of curling the bangs instead of having front forward spikes which is more of a teenage and punk type of do.
